Re: Online Photo storage

Two words that rarely go together, Free and Unlimited!

There are many free online storage sites but all to my knowledge have limitations against the free side of the business and their need to actually make money out of the deal so there will always be a cost somewhere, happy to be proven wrong though.

Personally I like Photobox, 200MB free when you register and that increases automatically by 50MB everytime you place an order, even if its just for one print, so although not free it is a very cheap way to get a large amount of online storage.

Is that thing like Photobucket. I've noticed some of these photo hosts resize uploaded images and it adds lots of noise to images. Very annoying.

Then Photobox would be my suggestion, 200MB to start with, and printing pictures off for the family will see that grow by 50MB per order, in no time at all you'll have accrued quite a bit of storage for relatively little money

Re: Online Photo storage

Both Photobox and Photobucket. One for general image gallery and the other for ordering.

I upload my full size images onto Photobox (after pp) and reduced sizes to Photobucket.

Works OK for me.

Re: Online Photo storage

I display my pictures on Flickr, but will be uploading full size images to Photobox so that family and friends can make prints should they wish. I think I have a crazy amount of storage at Photobox available to me but have never really used it.

In the coming months I will be upgrading from a free account at Flickr to a Pro account so that I can store my favorite images at full resolution, it's about £25 for 2 years (ish)

Re: Online Photo storage

Flickr Pro account sounds like the way to go, although not free as stevegreen points out.

The only restriction is that there is a 2GB/month upload restriction... but most folks aren't likely to come anywhere near that

Read something today about Jessops offering a photo storage service, haven't checked it out though, maybe worth a look

Re: Online Photo storage

Just registered at http://www.box.net who apparently allow 1GB of free online storage for basically any type of file, may come in handy
