Photoshop CS2 guidebook? Any ideas?

Hi,

Went out looking at manuals/guides for Photoshop CS2 yesterday and was amazed to find about 40 different books on the shelf !!!

Any recommendations or ideas? Too many to look at or choose from at various prices... But definately in the market for a good manual as quite literally a beginner.

I've heard a lot of people sing the praises of The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers' by Scot Kelby, not read it myself as i don't use CS2, check out Amazon.

Depending on what you want to achieve there are many free online tutorials that can show you how to do various effects.

I'm by no means an expert and in fact started off much like yourself, but just spent time experimenting and reading tutorials and now consider myself fairly able to do most of the tasks that i want

I've got the Elements 4 Scott Kelby book and it is fantastic - very well written, and very usable in that it takes you through everything on more of a 'case study' basis rather than reading like an extended technical manual (a mistake quite a few of the guides make). If his CS2 book is anywhere near as good as his Elements 4 offering you won't go far wrong in my opinion.

Are they any good? ....Most Definitely!

There are other books specific to Wedding Photography, Portraits, and a book/ DVD rom tutorial whose names I cant readily recall now but at any rate the general and " Down and Dirty Tricks" books are hard to beat

You might want to consider Photoshop LAB Colour by Dan Margulis.
You can do some awesome stuff with Lab colour in Photoshop.
