350D instead of 20D

I went to Kamera, St Helens this afternoon and had a look at a 350D - there don't seem to be any 20Ds available. Anyway, I ended up buying the 350 D with the battery holder, so it is much better to handle.

I was charged £600 for the outfit, and walked away with it. I also bought two 512 Mb Sandisk Ultra ll cards at £39.99 each. Hope I've done the right thing. The alternative was to wait for the 30 D and pay an extra £450.

The battery is on charge so I'll have a play around later, and bring myself up to the mark after reading the manual.

What did you get for the £600?

I got the camera, 18 - 55mm lens and the battery grip for £600.

I suppose I may have got both items a bit cheaper, after paying postage etc., but I went home with it and don't have to wait in for the delivery.

Doesn't sound too bad a deal, from memory the battery grip was always an expensive extra.

You wouldn't have save much online, only about £15.

Many years ago I use to use Kamera a lot (also known as www.bestcameras.co.uk) when I was heavilly into SLR and developing and then their customer service was excellent. After years away, and working in the area, I went there to buy a JVC Everio camera and possibly a digital camera (I was looking at the Canon S2 if I remember right) - and was highly dissapointed when they would not even throw anything in or give a discount considering I was looking at spending nearly 900 on the two, along with the atitude. However, for a bricks and mortar seller - there prices are not that bad but it was obvious that they now focus on selling on the web compared to how they were 18-20 years (and I am talking about my earlier statement about their attitude towards the customer). I left the camera and bought the everio from them as I had a need for it the next day (sons Nativity Play).

I would use them to buy if I new exactly what I wanted (like you would on the Web), but if I was unsure I would look at taking my business elsewhere - rather pay the extra couple of pounds and get the advice etc..

Cheers

Lawrenso

They were very pleasant and quite helpful. Let me play around with the 350. I suppose I should have tried for something off.
