Wait for Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 or buy FZ5 now??

Hi,

I`ve been looking and reading, was going to get a FZ5, but saw the FZ7 was imminent, anyone know of any pricing / release dates ? I need one for 6th April, so I will wait a while, but if it is going to be a lot more ££ than the FZ5, I`ll get one of those instead.

Found a preview of it here: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0601/06...cfz7.asp#press

Nige.

Id say it will be fairly close to the original RRP of the 5. Its a replacement rather than addition to the range i guess. But it still has to be cheaper then the Fz30 so it wont be TOO much im hoping, should be a great camera

Hi,

I had a feeling you`d say that, if thats the case, I`ll get an FZ5, dont want to spend much more than £250 for one, so thats looking like my one to get.

Cheers.

Think it will be superb but at a price ie £350. If you shop around you'll find an FZ5 new for £199 like i did

FZ7 better than the FZ5 - yes.....£150 better ?....nope.

Now thats what I`m after !!

I agree, is it really worth another £150, i`d say no too. Thought it best to ask though. I didnt know what price the Z7 would be, I would kick myself if I bought a Z5, then the Z7 came out at almost the same price.

Yeah if you can pick up a fz5 for that price then its a no brainer, i WAS in to see my pal at jessops he said they were going cheap there, might be worth a call to your local. Remember that they can do interstore transfers if they want so if your nice and say youd really like one they can try and get one in for you.
but no way is the fz7 worth 150 more. Good luck with the purchase

If anyone knows of a good place to get the FZ5, can you post in here please?

Best I`ve found is around £225 - 230.

unless there are any special offers anywhere, I think this is the going rate.

My local Jessops quoted £348.

Sorry M8 - that's where I got mine from and assumed it was the same offer. Will keep looking for you though.

Thanks ! I was on the phone ready to order, I asked for a FZ5, he said we dont do them, I said you do, they are on your website.. then the penny dropped.

I`ll keep looking and let you know if I find one before you.

What makes you say that?, the FZ7 will be offering a much better range of ISO's larger screen and it looks alittle better, plus a list of other improvemts to the metering and focusing system.

Rarely pay full price for anything :-

a) it's never worth the price
b) 9months down the line it's 40% cheaper.

FZ7 will be a great camera....at the right price

Guys, I bought my FZ5 (black of course) from www.bestcameras.co.uk in December and I am very, very happy with it.

The FZ5 has officially been discontinued so I would suggest that you snap one up before everyone permanently runs out of stock.
