What does everyone think of the new Sony DSC - R1 ????

Guys,

I have used Sony digital cameras for a while now (all my digi camers have been Sony -point and shoot stuff mainly) - my Nikon F5 sees no use at all now so I'm thinking of selling it.

The current Sony P200 (7.1 Megapixel camera) I have at the minute is good but I'd quite like to get a camera with a few more features (and better optics, more resolution etc.)

Sony sent me an e-mail about their new DSC-R1 - it looks really good with 10.3 Mega pixels and should be in the shops at circa £500.

Now i know it's not the last word in Digital camera technology BUT it will give me, a nice Carl Zeiss zoom lens (of a size I always used on SLR's 24-120) an operating system I already understand AND interchageability of Sony Memory Sticks etc (of which I have quite a few).

So does anyone have any views on whether this is a good a camera to consider or am I wasting my money - i.e am I beter off with a second hand digital camera from someone else - or saying sod it and just using the P200 as my main (and only) camera?

Thoughts please on this and the DSC-R1 !!

Have a look here:Sony DSC-R1

Have a look at what they say here

Sony DSC -R1 pre production review

I have had the DSC-F828 since it came out and have been very pleased with it. The R1 is the camera that is replacing it.
