The end of bulky lenses?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/05...era_lens_flat/

Interesting idea. Thinner than a sheet of paper? Lenses would look like filters do now!! (well, maybe a tiny bit thicker so they could add a zoom and focus rings )

Interesting stuff...Though as Richard also noted...I wonder how the useability will be handled...I may sound old-fashioned, but I love the zoom and focus rings...Just feels more natural to me to control....

Aaargh I can just feel that I am getting old and the next generation will say "Granddad what are you on about..."

They'll build what looks like a track pad on the side of the camera.

Move your finger back or forwards to zoom. Up and down to focus. Manual aparture? Whats that then?

No hard buttons, just multiple touch screens that look like the silver anodised case when power is turned off...
