Ideas for 5 year old please...

It's our oldest's birthday - he'll be 5 - and he is crazy on taking pictures...
He always wants my camera or phone or the Mrs' phone...
So, we thought we'd get him a camera... I've seen this one
- it seems to be a good price... but it has no zoom (I know, I know, what else do I (does he...) want for £70!)
So, are there any other ideas/recommendations please...??

1st off use COMET & save approx £18 using free delivery

Not sure I would trust a 5 year old with a camera though......not sure they bounce too well

Best of luck.

Thanks DJW - totally agree, it's just that he's so mad on taking pictures - if something has to be dropped... I'd rather it was worth £70 or less.....

They've got the 3.2 megapixel Sanyo VPC-S1 for £60 instead of £200! - it has 3x optical zoom:

Never used one myself but looks pretty good for the price.

prehaps a kids camera may be more suitable like:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...421415-4557434

rather than an 'adults'

Looks good DJW, but I think the only realistic option is a digital - he snaps away at anything and everything getting some interesting angles that I wouldn't even think about - so processing costs would be an issue... !

my little sister (shes 7) often uses my dads digicam, shes also more adept at texting, using phones and operating electrical equipment than most adults.

shes quite happy using it, and as long as you instil some sort of understanding that its an adults toy and they must look after it, not break it etc. make them understand this and that your trusting them with something

it can be a positive learning experience for everyone

I honestly don't think he needs such a quality camera. How about buying him a cheap camera like this:

http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/conten...RE-DS6888A.htm

And with the rest of the money buy him a disney dvd and dvd player for his room! Then it will seem like you have bought him a lot more because i don't think he will care about the quality of pictures and zoom!
