Mountain shots from Chamonix

Well, we made it back with all limbs in one piece.

Thanks for the advice on using a dslr in cold temps at altitude, but as you can see it was extremely sunny (25 degrees in the sun). The mountain and cloud shots were taken from Aguille du Midi, which is around 3800m, just 400m shy of the peak on Mont Blanc. Standing next to the fence using both hands to hold the camera when you are dizzy from the altitude and have a 3 year old hanging onto your leg is a strange feeling

Thanks Seany, it is an incredible area. I'd recommend it for all levels of skiing and boarding, the shere scale of the mountains and glaciers is awesome.

Thanks for the comments, just goes to show that sometimes the photographer and the camera are much less important than what is in front of the lens.

indeed, i took a shot of loch lomond on a mill pond clear decembers day where everything above was reflected in the water, it was beautiful, taken on a 4 year old Fuji (non zoom 2mp camera) but it looked utterly sublime, shame i deleted it when i formatted my pc

Cracking pictures

I have a few from Skiing in France a few years ago here, there was one in there which could have been entered in this months comp too I may have got more votes

I actually spent 20 minutes waiting for the sun to drop half behind a mountain for the perfect shot for the comp this month. Unfortunately I got bored waiting and had a couple of 'looseners', would have been a great shot too, the sun moves quickly in that part of the world.
Besides which the entry date had closed by the time I got home, would have been nice to get off 0% though ;-)
