Noise on start up on a MinoltaZ3

I have just got a Minolta Z3 for Christmas it makes a sort of whirring noise on start up and then a quite ticking noice in either of the two picture taking setting but not the veiwing setting, is this normal for the Z3. It came from Cosco so if this is not normal it can go back and be changed, as I otherwise like the camera.

Cheers
Chris
