Can anyone recommend a camera for about £80?

Give or take five quid.

My parents got my a Samsung camera last christmas..and although the pics it took were decent(though I know nothing about photography)..the camera is a big ridden mess. I went on a trip to Scotland, took about 80 photos..got back home to put them on the computer..About 30 of them were either unviewable on the camera/unopenable on the computer...or they were just broken, I dont know how to describe it..the picture would be like broken into three bits, all of which had been shunted around so someones head would be central but their legs would be in the bottom left corner and the colour distorted.

This happened alot..and with some other people I know who had bought the same camera so I've just decided to get rid and get a new one.

It doesnt have to be the greatest camera ever, just something good for the price..that can take a reasonable size of SD card.

If anyone can give me some ideas that would be great thanks.

I don't know about what you're looking for per-se, but Asda seem to have a number of units in your price range. Buy via Quidco for additional money back.

At the end of the market your looking at spending a little more gets you a lot more in my opinion. The difference between a £80 camera and a £110 camera like this one:
Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FS62 Silver Compact Digital Camera (DMC-FS62) - Warehouse Express

is fairly large. The difference betweem a £110 camera and a £200 one is more subtle. Of course it's worth keeping an eye out for bargains if £80 is your top budget.
