3D Color Management/Calibration (Monitor/Display)

Does anyone here aware of any calibration software (for Win Vista) capable of calibrating both 2D grayscale and 3D color (and also compatible with DTP-94 colorimeter)?


I've tried basICColor and ColorEyes display pro but they only calibrate 2D grayscale.


DispcalGUI has option for Rec. 709, but I can't get the program to work.

Can I ask what it is you're trying to calibrate? (I guess a HDTV if you're talking of REC.709)?

A monitor to Rec. 709 specs

Or to sRGB gamut with D65 white point and gamma of 2.2

Dell 2209WA with e-IPS panel via DVI with DDC enabled.

It has an option to control the usual RGB levels, like most monitors, it doesn't have CMS.

Okay, well I wouldn't bother with REC 709 unless you have a monitor that would particularly benefit from it, and I don't think any desktop monitor can.

I'm no expert as far as TV calibration is concerned but I'd imagine that REC 709 might well be a specific tone curve for broadcast displays - I'll have to check up on that.

Basiccolor Display is very good as it allows you to set an 'exact' curve for sRGB rather than the very near gamma of 2.2 and it's compatible with the DTP-94.

I presume then that you're after editing video?

When I calibrate HDTVs to the Rec. 709 spec, the difference between it and the Dell is quite significant. So it's best to have a display to compare the accuracy to.

I also need for editing and authoring videos.

TBH, I don't why the Dell can't support Rec. 709. After all, its gamut is very close.

PS: What did you meant by "exact curve for sRGB"?

The tone response curve for the sRGB colour space is not quite the same as a gamma of 2.2. Essentially the TRC is is a way of describing (and editing) the range of luminosity in a given scene against what you would eventually see in print - or in your case film. (I'm not very good at technical explanations)

I would imagine that you'd have difficulty in accurately matching a desktop monitor to a hdtv simply because hdtv's have all those different settings for making the picture look better.

After spending few more times Googling, it would seem that there is not such software.

I would have to buy a monitor that supports Rec .709 natively or a HDTV with accurate CMS.


I'll try and use the L curve instead of 2.2
