Here) .. is most often used for the software manipulation of images not to describe camera or sensor quuality as such
Until the likes of Canons 40D I hadnt actually heard of any digital camera, Compact or DSLR has having a great lasitude of dynamic range.. (ie Wide dynamic range)

Certainly AEB can be used to produce HDR images but that may not be what you mean
I do wonder if given the small size of the sensors and the megapixel race, most compacts can muster a High range of colurs / tones?
