Wide angle compact with hdr built in?

Ive been googling like mental for the past two days to try and find a compact camera with a 28mm or better wide angle lens that has some sort of hdr or increased dynamic range function.
I don't need any other feature as I just want a compact in my pocket to grab scenery shots when i'm out and about.
Does anyone know of any that are any good?

The ricoh cx2 and Finepix f200exr are the type but too new and expensive (and full of features I don't need). Was hoping there would be an older one I could pick up for a bit cheaper.

Cheers in advance.

Re: Wide angle compact with hdr built in?

built in HDR?

do you mean AEB? im not sure if you do or not because the fuji f200exr does not have AEB.

the ricoh cx2 does have AEB but its a pretty poor forced -0.5 +0.0 +0.5 which isnt much good for either the over cooked effect so many people like or for balancing contrasty scenes.

Re: Wide angle compact with hdr built in?

High Dynamic Range. as a term ( See Here) .. is most often used for the software manipulation of images not to describe camera or sensor quuality as such
Until the likes of Canons 40D I hadnt actually heard of any digital camera, Compact or DSLR has having a great lasitude of dynamic range.. (ie Wide dynamic range)
Film yes
Certainly AEB can be used to produce HDR images but that may not be what you mean
I do wonder if given the small size of the sensors and the megapixel race, most compacts can muster a High range of colurs / tones?
I guess, knowing nothing, ill keep an eye on the answers you get....

Re: Wide angle compact with hdr built in?

what about a compact that shoots in RAW? you can then use Photomatix to creat an HDR from 1 RAW file

Re: Wide angle compact with hdr built in?

I want to avoid shooting raw and having to photomatrix myself. I use my 1dmk3 if I want to put that much effort in. I am just looking to have a small camera in my pocket for when I'm wandering around and just want to quickly grab scenery stuff.

Theres a few compact cameras out there that take a few shots quickly and combine them in-camera to create a hdr "style" shot.

Ive only found new ones though which is why I asked this question in case anyone knew of an older camera that had something similar.
