Contarex + Zeiss Lenses

Hi

I've got a Contarex Bullseye and the following Carl Zeiss lenses which i'm told are pretty rare;

Distagon 35mm f2
Planar 50mm f2
Sonar 85mm f2
Sonar 135 f2.8
Sonar 250 f4

plus flash, tripods, cases, filters etc.

Does anyone know where I could get this valued?

That's quite expensive stuff nowadays, Zoomo

Just to give you an idea, this set is for sale now on Ebay :

Take good care of it,
Rafael

I would check out some of the specialist camera shops which have adverts in the photo magazines. Amateur Photographer has a few, pick one closest to you and see what they say.

Re: Contarex + Zeiss Lenses

Jeez Louise...

Thanks Rafael

I was thinking about selling it to fund a lense upgrade or even a 5D MkII. I'm in two minds to sell the kit though as it feels and looks beautiful. Proper German engineering, really solid and heavy in the hands. It belonged to my dad's step-father who use to shoot for national geographic etc. in the 60s. However I've not used film in a while and now I'm hooked on the convenience of DSLR...

Re: Contarex + Zeiss Lenses

Stuff with sentimental value is always difficult to sell, but I imagine the original owner would approve, if you used the money on a new camera rather than beer and cigarettes.

See if you can find a specialist auction house that does photography equipment, Ebay is absolute last resort in my eyes.

Thanks Tony, that's good advice and a nice justification. There's not loads of sentimental value attached to it it's more a case of I've got an appreciation for classic stuff. I need to decide whether i want to look at a classic or use an awesome 5D MKII.
