TZ6 vs TZ7 - buying advice?

Hi all

I'm not much of a photographer, but always say I should take more photos. I'm off to New York next month and am getting a new camera for the trip. After reading loads of threads on here, I've settled on a Panasonic Lumix. I'm not sure whether to go for the TZ6 or the TZ7 though. I know the TZ7 does HD video, but I'm not fussed about that. Are there any other differences that make the TZ7 worth the extra £60? (based on Amazon prices)

I'll be using it for both day and night pictures of the sights in New York, as well as everyday photography of family, parties, the cat and whatever else I reckon would make for a good photo.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Re: TZ6 vs TZ7 - buying advice?

Well the TZ6 has a 2.7" 230k lcd screen and the TZ7 has a 3" 460K screen.

As an added string to its bow the TZ7 can also be set to record a single image in all three aspects at once, thereby allowing the user to decide which one works best afterwards.

The TZ6 boasts a top burst speed of 6.5fps, while the TZ7 can manage 10fps.

(this is what i've found out via google..)

Products - Compare Products - UK & Ireland

I don't know what else tbh, I've just ordered a TZ7 myself today though

Re: TZ6 vs TZ7 - buying advice?

If your after taking some night shots you might be aswell buying a gorillapod aswell as it would help to get a sharper photos just set it up at what you want a photo of when its on the gorillapod and set the timer to take it ...there only small to carry about aswell.

Just and idea btw i can't say much on the cameras as ive not looked too much at them.

Re: TZ6 vs TZ7 - buying advice?

Just ordered a TZ7 myself and hadn't thought about which tripod to get, that Gorilla Pod looks great - thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the advice guys. I hadn't considered a tripod, think I'll get the TZ6 and use some of the £60 to get a Gorillapod

Re: TZ6 vs TZ7 - buying advice?

Slight too late to advise you here - as you've already made the right decision!

I've had a TZ-7 for a few months now, and a good friend has the TZ6,

He wishes he went for the TZ-7 now

You won't be disappointed, I have had fantastic results from this camera, in a whole range of situations.

Enjoy!
