Re: Digital Camera for girlfriend

One thing to note about the sony is that it only takes its own type of memory cards which are quite expensive.

Re: Digital Camera for girlfriend

not much luck here then, any suggestions where else I could ask?

I think she's going to get the Pentax anyway.

Re: Digital Camera for girlfriend

It's because it looks like you've just picked the two bestsellers at Comet and then asked which we'd buy. I probably wouldn't buy either.

But if you said you had a budget of X and what you planned to use the camera for and size constraints etc, you'd probably get more responses.

Personally I'd get a Panasonic or a Canon in the sub £200 compact range.

Re: Digital Camera for girlfriend

How careful is your girlfriend? If she's anything like mine, i'd spend a bit more and get a Olympus Mju Tough; waterproof to 10m, meant to be able to withstand knocks/drops/shock, full-auto one-press-for-idiots

EDIT: Scratch that, looks like the Canon D10 is arguably better, but the Panasonic DMC-FT1 takes better pictures and takes 720p video. Choices...?

Re: Digital Camera for girlfriend

Not sure how much these cost but the new Panasonic DMC FX60 in Pink might be worth a look.
