digital photo frame

HI All

No sure if this is the right forum, i want to get my dad a digital photo frame, can you suggest any good ones as the places i have been tend to be a non return (they say due to you putting personal info on the item however this doesnt make sence but rules are rules i suppose)

Anyone know the best from budget to expensive??

Cheers

Re: digital photo frame

Hello there,

I myself have been looking at Digital photo frames in the past couple of days, my requirements were simply a quality display, not fussed about a remote. From searching through posts in this forum and other websites, I have focused on offerings from the usual big names, particularly Sony, Toshiba and Jessops.

Toshiba have an 8 inch offering with good resolution for few pennies short of £50. Toshiba Gigaframe L80 but it has no remote. Usually about £70.

Jessops also have a similar offering for about the same price, this has been talked about in other threads in this forum with mostly positive comments Jessops 8 inch Photo frame. Again currently on sale.

Tesco also has a similar offering for a few pounds dearer, their technika brand Technika SR08

Obviously these are all 8 inch versions, from what I have seen of the 7 inch versions, kodak, Phillips and Sony appear to produce frames with good displays. There are of course the cheaper ones from Amazon or Ebuyer but you get what you pay for really.

Really would advise on actually seeing them in the flesh and picking one with the features you want and the display quality you are willing to live with. The ones I've linked to stood out as bargains to me.

Hope this is of use,

Cheers,

Professor

Re: digital photo frame

I bought the Nextbase 8" from Play.com ot my in-laws;

Play.com (UK) : Nextbase Gallery 15-S 8" Digital Picture / Photo Frame : Electronics - Free Delivery

Very impressed with it. 800x600 is a good resolution for the price and the screen is vey nice.

Controlls took a bit of getting used to, but in the end set it up so they just have to pull the memory card, add a few more photos and plug it back in

It does a good job of auto photo resizing - so you don't need to spend time carefuly cropping to size, and fills with black bars to keep hte original aspect ratio.

Well worth considering.
