Thanks: Gave 1, Got 8 | would anyone speak out in a shop?
If they heard something they didnt think was right?
i was in a certain shop this afternoon, its won awards for customer service and allsorts going by their adverts in magazine and i assumed from that the staff knew their stuff.
But while i was at the till i heard one of the staff describing a second hand D70 that they had in the window to someone, apparently it would blow the D60 out of the water and what made it better was that it had a better lens.
Now i nearly pointed out that if i put the lens on my D60 would that then blow the D70 out of the water? and surely the whole point of DSLR's was that you could put any lens you like on it.
It just seemed such a weird thing to say from someone who i assumed knew their stuff. This wasnt Jessops btw. Now ive no idea what the D70 is like, but im assuming its marginally better than a D60 at best and i just think the guy wanted to flog off some second hand stock to someone.
Anyway, would anyone of said anything?

Anyway, would anyone of said anything? | Perhaps, but iirc, the D70 is better simply due to the fact non S lense will function on the camera unlike the D60. The D60 has the newer Expeed engine , but the D70 is a superb camera. So in a nutshell, it seems he was telling the truth. Second hand stock is a massive boon for camera shops and note that both the D50 and D70 have cult following due to its HDR abilities.
Thanks,

HDR abilities, what HDR abilities?
IMO if the buyer had a fixed budget and the D70 had a better lens then the seller was probably correct in what they were saying.

Anyway, would anyone of said anything? | In this specific instance I wouldn't have said anything. I will and have spoken out if I hear shop staff hard selling and talking crap only if I am 100% certain that I know better, I seem mainly to do this in shops such as Curry's, comet and pcworld I wonder why that is....

Would i of stepped in? No, not my place, not my money.
There is no right answer in the what is best argument. A fool and his money and all that.
Hard sell for 2nd hand - yes
Deliberate misinformation to shift goods -no.
The days of trusting high street brands for the best information are long gone. Its all targets, targets targets! (and then insurance.) |

I have done so in PC World on hearing absolute rubbish regarding computers and peripherals. I don't owe sales staff any favours, I don't see why I should let them give out duff information to customers as it could be me next time.
