what programe do you use to make your picture stand out

hi i was just wondering what programe you all use to make your pictures stand out?

Obviously there's no magic machine to turn drab photos into prize-winners, but the one I use is Lightroom. It's only really worth it if you have a DSLR, mind.

First you need to shoot photos in RAW format. Then you have more scope to adjust white balance and fiddle with light levels, Noise Ninja, highlight recovery etc.

I use Bibble Labs Pro 4.10 as it is simple to use and has a lot of build in support for my camera and lenses. You can download a demo version and use it for 2 weeks. Also has several demo videos to show you many of the features.

Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Apple aperture 2.0, aperture is by far the easier if you are starting out and there are loads of tutorials online. It's for macintosh only though so may not be of any use to you.

Try starting with the Gimp, its a freeware image editor. A lot use Photoshop elements 6 also, but this isnt free.
