Sunset

Turned out to be another bad Sunset. It looked really good until about 5 minutes before the Sun went down, some wispy bits that quite often make the Sunset then a cloud went over the Sun & it was gone. However I got a few that I liked, here's one.

Nice shot, but is the horizon straight?

In Poole harbour when the tide comes in there is a slight apparent tilt to the left & when it goes out there is a similar tilt to the right, so it depends when you take the picture.

Re: Sunset

Lived in Lilliput, Sandbanks and now Bournemouth area all my life and that's the first I've heard of apparent tilting water due to the tide-flow in the harbour. I'll take your word for it tho and look more closely next time I'm there.

Anyway, good pic. Just a suggestion that maybe you could expose/post-process for the sky and the foreground seperately then blend them? The highlights in the sky look a little burned-out to me.

Re: Sunset

The horizon is dead level (if it's supposed to be a hill, then it's wrong, but I assume it is flat). The coast isn't level, which I assume is because the shot is not perpendicular to it.

Well if it keeps tilting like that no wonder the tide goes in and out

I knew it had nothing to do with the moon

I prefer this one. The first had no real focus of attention, this has that vertical reflection. Nice shot.

I only have the basic Canon programme for editing pictures, so it's basicaly contrast (sometimes) brightness (sometimes) colour & sharpening. I had Coral then changed my computer, I had a lot of problems with the new laptop for the last 6 months thus making it impossible to load it on. However I think the problems have been solved so will install in the next week or so. Bottom line for the last 6 months I've not processed any of my photo's, so for the next 6 months wear dark glasses.
