Wild parakeets

Took these photos in my back garden in Middlesex these parakeets are now becoming the new pigeons around here they have stripped the apples from my trees for the last few years.

I believe there are literally 1,000s of them in and around London. We certainly have more than our fair share here in Acton, but I seldom get a good shot at them (with a camera, that is ).

Pretty aren't they, sort of bird you'd expect to only find here in a cage.

They are not so pretty at 6 o clock on a Sunday morning that’s for sure the squawking and fighting they do drives you made at times.

As John has said we have loads of them in Acton & Ealing.
This one was taken in Gunnersbury Park Ealing.

I remember seeing these in Regents Park when visiting friends several years ago. At the time we were amazed and more than a little surprised. Had a look on the web and realised it was an established community. It seems their numbers have boomed since.
It would be a shame to think they'll end up as poorly thought of as pigeons. I still think it's fantastic birds like this can be seen native in britain, but then I don't have to live with them.
