A Handsome Pair

Went down to the Blackwater river yesterday during a brief sunny spell and found the Demoiselles were out in force.They are quite skittish but I found the males to be easier to shoot because they have a home perch that they defend and come back to. The females wander around looking for the most attractive male to mate with.

A rather dashing fellow:



And a good looking lady:



Both taken with Nikon D50, Tamron 90mm macro.

Great shots - so detailed!

I tried to photograph some last year and couldn't get that close - I used my Nikon 70-300VR to photograph them and crept up but they flew off when I got close enough for a reasonable shot so had to crop in a bit:
