Photo viewing and editing freeware

Does anyone have any recommendations for basic photo viewing and editing freeware? Thanks

I've never used it, but GIMP is meant to be an excellent freeware alternative to Photoshop.

Hi,

I second Picasa too, it's free and a lot of the shots taken in my album were processed using it until I got Lightroom. But for speed and easiness of use Picasa is excellent especially if only just starting out.

I had a look at Gimp a while back and gave up, preferred Picasa at the time.
