G9 users shoot shoot RAW: Info and help please

I use Lightroom to process my RAW files from my G9 and 5d. I have noticed that the preview of the image looks like an incamera jpeg but when I select the image to develop it goes to it's RAW white balance. Often this is insanely out. In some instances I've had to use customwb and put it to 50,000K in order to get back to close to correct colour. Can someone tell me if this is a G9 Raw file problem that happens with other software or is it Adobe's RAW processing that is not working robustly with the G9 at present. It's really annoying me now.....

Are you using Lightroom v1.3? There might be some changes in that latest release. It's a fairly quick download and will install fine.

Also, on import you can select the type of preview that it generates - not sure if there are some options on that but worth a look.

Lastly, are you converting to DNG as you import? I dont - I just use "copy files to new location".

Re: G9 users shoot shoot RAW: Info and help please

I think that the G9 basically embeds a jpeg with the RAW data for preview purposes - I suspect that Lightroom is pulling that out to use quickly for the preview. The jpeg will look different to the RAW as you know, so I guess that's where the problem is....maybe?

50,000k sounds a bit bonkers though, so maybe there is an underlying problem as well. It's a relatively new camera; maybe they've overlooked something with their quest to try and get the D3/300 and the Leopard compatibility problems sorted?

What is your camera raw settings ?

Is there a raw preview option ? I don't have lightroom but bridge has a similar option to preview or you could purge the folder and get it to index your images again.

The probelm isn't withthe indexing of the images pixel .It's with the fact you need to select white balance settings in the raw convertor that are patently incorrect....ie 50,000K......Thanks for ideas though everyone. I've downloaded latest 1.3 update and will check things out over hols
