Thats great
I would love to see some more info on what it cost, and how/where they found the camera.

"Hi darling, I know I promised not to spend any more money, but unfortunately I think I need a 40D. I was reading this thread on the forum about camera tossing and my 350d......."

Re: Camera Tossing
I've got an old Sony cyber shot. I wonder if it has a timer setting....Tape some bubble wrap round it then chuck it as high as I can.....could be a laugh

I have an old Casio P&S that can be set to take shots a minimum of 1 minute apart to a maximum of 1 hour apart. I often set it up at parties to take a shot every 5 minutes until the card is full. Get some great candid shots that way.
I wish my Nikon D50 had a similar feature built in. You can do this with CaptureNX and a laptop, but built in would be much handier and save battery life.

Re: Camera Tossing
If this is really achievable in the UK I'd love to give it a go. I doubt it is though as the object would probably end up in the North Sea somewhere, or the Arctic Circle.
Without being a meteorologist I suspect we have about as good as 'a snowball's chance in hell' of pulling it off.
That big chunk of America where they did it doesn't have to contend with (1) The Gulf Stream; or (2) The Jet Stream...

Or gaffer tape it to a kite
I'm currently trying to find a suitable camera with better than standard timer features. I already have kites which i can get up in the air in under 10 seconds, but would like more control and not be so rushed. I have seen cheap wireless remote shutter controls on eBay, but need a small and light camera that works with them.
