The one that got away. (Arachnophobe warning)

I was shooting flowers in the back garden when a movement on a flower pot caught my eye. A jumping spider was eating a fly.

It dropped the remains, then spotted another fly sitting a few inches away.

It started stalking the fly.

The fly flew off and the spider watched it go.

It turned around and gave me the look.

All taken with Nikon D50, Tamron 90mm Macro. All pics are flickr linked.

Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

Mike

Brilliant shots and I hate spiders.
You really got the focus spot on they're really sharp.

ditto...

In addition I also do not feel warmly disposed towards snakes though they seem to attract Photographic attention:That adder you almost "stepped" on

More like he and his "little friends".. he always seems to know where they are hiding
Even before the Tamron, the Sigma 70-300 ( and his capable non DSLR) kept "finding" the " crawlies "

Thanks for looking and commenting all.

The Tamron 90mm Macro lens is such a great lens, I hardly ever take it off the camera.

Jumping spiders are one of my favourite creepies to watch, they are always up to something.

Great set of shots .. timed just perfectly!

I have no problem with spiders, but anything that is likely to jump at me just freaks me out!

Thanks Sophistasista.

They are much more likely to jump away from you and, given the choice, I'd rather have a JS land on me than a germ ridden fly

Agreed Great Shots.

I have started to use My Tamron lens. Haven't done much in the way of Insects yet just the odd Bee, but its a great lens with Flowers and plants...
