Well overheating is one cause or psu overload another. Does Event log give any info. Also, send more details of your configuration.

It's part of windows.

Control panel>Administrative tools>Event viewer.

The power supply definitely seems like a candidate, could you pop the side off the case and get the details of it?

with Spyder viewer being a Moderator and EndlessWaves being a Veteran member, would either of you help me with regard`s of help on who to trust when buying item`s? I have no feedback so any seller will obviously want my payment first, but with these forum sites being quite new to me I would like a little help at first of senior members opinions of who I can trust.

Well I'm very flattered but there are plenty of guys with far greater pedigree than me: look at number of posts/thanks as a start. Then research any suggestions using google.

To be honest after reading two people leaning towards my psu I have been having a nosey around google and I have to admit I am a little scared of putting any stress on the psu incase it goes pop and takes my system with it.

I know my system specs are only small but for gaming the pc tears all games up on max settings so I have never overclocked anything pal, all is running on stock clocks, and case has 4 fans, 1 front intake, 2 side intake and rear exhaust, all 120mm, I will check cpu temps now.

Not sure how the fans are arranged in that case. Check cooling to the graphics card. Try to leave slots either side empty.

to be honest the graphics card is the only card occupying my board, one side fan is blowing directly on the cpu and the other direct on the gpu, I have done alot of reading up on my psu since it was brought to light and have decided that it aint good enough and am going to replace it. Do i need a new one or would a used one of this site do me and do you have any sugestions or recommendation to what psu would be best? at the end of this month i will have a Z77 series motherboard, i5 3570K and a corsair vengance 2x8gb kit. any advice would be nice, do i need a big psu and what makes are good?

tbh m8 the psu is first in your list of suspects, try a decent brand like fsp, antec, corsair,or a coolermaster

You don't need a particularly powerful PSU for a stock i5 and 6950, a good quality 450W should be sufficient, or one of the cheaper (£35, 40) 500W ones from the likes of coolermaster which aren't quite as good but still miles ahead of your current £10 EZCool.
