Pc to LCD via HDMI

ok, iv connected my Acer Aspire M3200 pc to my Mikomi LCDW19HD via an HDMI cable from the back of my pc to the back of my tv. im on Windows XP.

after plugging the cable into both pc and tv i cant get any signal into ym tv's HDMI channel, iv gone through the Nvidia control panel to set up a connection and everything and just havent been able to get a connection.

can anyone help???

Sometimes it's just as easy as using a 'mode switch' on the keyboard. For example, my laptop has a function key (Fn key+F8) assigned for 'LCD only' / 'LCD+TV' / 'TV only'. This seems to activate the hardware, without it the driver software can't do jack with it. It's just a thought, tho.

can u explain how to do this mode switch, also i havent actually tuned the pc into the tv - im not sure how to do this, is there any advice u can give to help with this

Well, I think I have given you all the advice I can, wich is: look on your keyboard to see if there is anything there related to TV or HDMI and start pressing buttons.

Only laptops have that as they're designed to be connected to different displays frequently.

You should just have to tick the box or other obvious action in the nvidia control panel to enable it. Which resolution have you got the TV set to?

iv tried all 3 resolution settings to try to get it to work, perhaps the tv just isnt able to show the computer visual output

HDMI only comes in one version unless connectors like SCART and composite so as long as you've got it set to the right settings then it definitely can.

ok iv tried every single resolution, colour scheme thing and all to a complete failure - this is also the case of 2 of my cousins (late 30's) one of which is very good with all computer things and the other very good at pc-tv connection. neither could help

I'm trying to determine whether the problem is that the wrong resolutions are showing up (since different resolution options can be added), or whether it is showing the right ones and the problem is somewhere else.

The M3200 appears to have a graphics card so one possible cause of this issue is that the HDMI port may be part of the disabled onboard graphics, the M5201 has this problem. Is the HDMI port on the long vertical plate or on one of the smaller horizontal plates below that?

from the position i would say its on the motherboard and its disabled on-board graphics card whereas the monitor itself is attached to the graphics card separate from the monitor - wut can i do to get around this??

If the graphics card has a DVI port then you could use a DVI to HDMI adapter, although you won't get sound. If the motherboard has a VGA port as well as the HDMI port you could try taking the card out and using those together. (assuming you want a monitor as well as the TV)

well if i take out the graphics card then my pc wont have enough graphics to work most of my games, i want the tv so i can watch films and everything from ym pc because my dvd player is a piece of crap.

the graphics has the "vid out" circular output, the same size as the mouse input and the DVI - but i really would like sound aswell

S-video, the resolution sucks and it probably won't carry sound either.

Which card is it? Some of the more recent ones can use a special DVI to HDMI adapter to send sound over HDMI. I guess you didn't get an adapter with the system?

There's nothing stopping you from simply using a seperate cable for sound, but without knowing which outputs your PC has (and which are occupied, I assume you have PC speakers) and which inputs the TV has it's hard to say definitely which would work.

Do you know which model of the M3200 is it?

Acer Aspire AMD phenom M3200 is all i can really think its make is, graphics card all i can give u is that it uses/is nVidia GeForce 8400
