Looking for a good, compact DAB Radio/CD Player. Considered the BOSE, it's a special present so would pay the price, but read that it has loads of wires at the back.

Been looking at the Roberts MP23 which is less than half price and looks good.

Any advice??

The Roberts MP-23 is indeed a great all-round DAB/FM/AM/CD/SD/USB player, alarm clock etc, and line inputs and a digital output for connecting external hardware. Not much it doesn't do really, apart from record. I'm listening to mine right now in fact. I'd snap one up for half price, for sure.

It's not exactly what you might call 'compact' though, slightly less wide than a full-size stereo separates deck and a bit taller. Still, there's quite a lot packed into that box, and it has very decent sound quality besides.

Thanks Barock - I'm not getting it for half price though, what I meant was that the Roberts is half the price of the Bose.

One more question - are there loads of wires at the back, that seems to be the downfall of the Bose along with the inflated price.

Hi Rosie, oops sorry, my mistake, the MP-23 is still a bargain in my book though for the asking price. Bose do tend to be overpriced for what you get.

Anyway at the back of the MP-23 is just the mains lead and a retractable aerial, much better than the flimsy wire you get on many DABs. You can plug in extra wires to other equipment if you want, but otherwise it's all very neat and self contained. Hope that helps.
