Yet another aerial question

Hi All, I've just replaced my vintage Rotel with a new dab/fm tuner and connected it to my roof mounted omni-directional FM aerial.
The signal strength is 10/10 for FM and 6/10 for dab which still sounds really good, if I were to install a new dab aerial with double shielded coax would I still receive FM stations?
Would appreciate any advice as I'm reluctant to spend £100 then not receive FM.
Thanks

Re: Yet another aerial question

Some, but now sure how many.
A DAB aerial is tuned and optimsied for the frequencies used for DAB - in Band III around 220 MHz.

An FM aerial is optimised/tuned for the Band II FM frequencies of 88-108 MHz.

It is also possible to get combined DAB/FM combo aerials with elements tuned to both bands.

Re: Yet another aerial question

Thanks Chris,
I wasn't aware a combined aerial was available and it may be the solution, I've just made the same bargain purchase as arcam boy and have been listening to it with much anticipation. All I've done is fit a new F-type connector to my ancient coax and FM aerial and I have to say that despite the dab signal only being around 60% it sounds far superior to the 100% FM reception i.e. when switching between the same station.
If this is how good dab can sound then I may not have a need for FM but I will investigate the combined aerial.

Re: Yet another aerial question

gd purchase mate I've heard some mixed reviews on DAB I've heard it can sound very digital and not as natural sounding as FM but will hopefully soon findout. I also would like a combined aerial as I don't want an FM and DAB aerial outside as well as a sky dish and normal tv aerial!

Re: Yet another aerial question

any luck GAD on an aerial I am tempted just to contact a local company and get them to install a dual aerial. I don't want to install both DAB and FM and I've just had a quick test with the little aerial supplied with the tuner but not ideal really!

Re: Yet another aerial question

Not yet, I'm getting a good enough signal at present from my old fm setup and I'd want to be sure that a combined aerial wasn't a compromise. I don't know enough about it but when I do decide I suspect it will be dab only and hope it gets some fm too.
I'm having to prioritise as a mates son bent the cantilever on my denon 304 and want a replacement for it first. Let us know how you get on.
Cheers

Re: Yet another aerial question

Need some help regarding aerials...

Is there any good combined FM / DAB aerial that you would recomend?

I've just discovered that my in wall FM aerial output connector is the same as the TV output and it doesn't have any signal below 400MHz (I think...).
