Pure Chronos - Any issues

Hi All,

I am interested in buying a Pure Chronos (the one without the CD player) as I am looking for an alarm clock that will allow me to set a different alarm for weekdays and weekends. Having a look at reviews for this alarm clock on Amazon however and the consensus seems to be that the display is too bright for a bedside alarm clock.

Does anyone here own one of these and have an opinion as to whether this is true or not ? Anyone got any comments about this alarm clock (i.e. buy or avoid) ?

Thanks.

I have one of these and I am very pleased with it.
You can set four alarms all independent of each other. You have a variety of options for each. I.E. Wake up to DAB or buzzer, every weekday, weekend, once (on a specific day) etc. It is very flexible.

You can dim the back light. Although it only has two settings, either bright or dim. I must say I find even the dim setting too bright for me and I "cover" the display up at night. It's a bit of a pain because if I wake up and want to know the time I have to uncover it. Your choice. Unless you buy it from somewhere with a returns policy, like Argos for example, you won't be able to test it out.

I would, however, recommend this radio even with the bright/dim issue.

Re: Pure Chronos - Any issues

I had one for a couple of days. The display brightness on the DIM setting for me was fine, not too bright at all. My main concern was that the volume would not go down low enough for night listening. The volume changes in steps and the lowest step before completely muted is still quite loud. For the same price I ended up buying the Tempus 1XT radio, far better sound, better clock/alarm features (you can choose a different radio station and volume level to wake up to that which you fall asleep to, and it has more features including stereo line out, optional extra speaker and presets.

I have one. Even on the lowest setting brightness is like a bloody lighthouse in the room. I can virtually read by it. I have taken to putting a sock over it at night.

Further to svpworld's comments about the Tempus 1XT, I have an earlier Tempus 1 & can confirm that the display on this model can be turned off in standby, lighting up when the unit is on or when the alarm goes. Presume this is the same for the 1XT?

The original poster was talking about the Cronos Alarm clock. It has two settings; Very Very bright and Stupidly Inexplicably Bright.

EDIT; Sorry, i miss read what you were replying to. Ignore me
