signal error variation

can anybody out in forum land help me to explain why some stations that i can receive are coming in with a signal error rate of 5 or less but others are showing error rates of 60 plus
the stations were all found by letting the radio scan for them so presumably they are all available from the same tx (tacolneston)

I'm on Tacolneston as well. Which stations are you refering to?. I don't seem to have any reception problems with an indoor aerial. I live in Norwich.

I'm not 100% sure what is meant by signal error rate but Capital Life in Norfolk is a very low bit rate Mono signal (80kbs) so I guess you cannot compare it with the performance of BBC Radio2. This applies to a number of other stations as well, The Beach, The Jazz etc. long live FM !

Re: signal error variation

It may be because the BBC from Tacolneston transmit with 5kW and Digital One (which Life is on) only 1.4kW. If you are in Norwich itself Digital One comes from Stoke Holy Cross at 1.1 kW.
Me, an anorak - never!
