Quality of DAB v Sky Digital

As the header really - what's better quality, DAB or Sky Digital?
Was wondering about getting a DAB Tuner but most of the stations I'd listen to are on Sky so is there any point?

Thanks

If it's like Freeview, Sky's transmissions should have a higher bandwidth so all things being equal listen to Sky or Freeview rather than DAB. DAB does have a few advantages that you can listen to DAB on a personal radio, in the car or in the garden. DAB also has local radio stations.

With Sky you can get that funny looking Gnome thing which dispenses with the portability problem around the house.
Not sure how good it sounds for the money though!

Re: Quality of DAB v Sky Digital

Technically, Sky Digital is better, in the sense that the sound is often broadcast in stereo, whereas several of the DAB stations are mono, also there are more stations on Sky Digital.

For me, I've got a Pure Evoke 2xt, and would much rather listen to the radio on this, I don't know, there's just something a little weird about listening to the radio on the TV, it just doesn't ring true for me...

If you hook your Sky box up to a decent hifi, the sound will be better than if you do the same with a DAB radio, but there's the inconvenience of having to have the TV on to change the channels unless you memorise the channel number.

DAB might not be quite as good, but if you get a decent stereo DAB radio, the differnce isn't all that great, but the convenience and portability far outweigh anything else for me.

Couldn't recommend the Evoke 2xt that I have highly enough.

Well I'm currently listening to the Zeppelin top 20 on Planet Rock via Sky and my Arcam AVR250 and it sounds superb. TV is switched off so it's just like listening to any other hi-fi source really.
