Bug DAB recoder then playback in car HU possible?

Hi

I've been wondering if the recording on the Bug converts the broadcasts to MP3 or WMA so that it can be played back in my car stereo via SD card?

Recordings on the Bug Too are MP2 - see page 18 of the manual. Pure provide a free utility for download (Easy CD-DA v9.0.1) to convert MP2 recordings to MP3 or WMA.

Some players will even play .mp2 files without the need to convert them to MP3 format. Others will play them if you simply change the extension to .mp3 - failing that, the converter downloadable from Pure is your saviour.

Hi Professor

I'm getting a JVC KD-LHX551 which has a SD card reader. The specs say that it'll play MP3/WMA might just try it without converting to see if it works. And what do you mean by changing extension. Is that just loading the SD card into laptop and changing file name from MP2 - MP3?

Also if i do convert from MP2 - MP3, will there be a loss in quality?

Not that you'll notice, if at all - depends on what settings are used.

I did own the Bug but now have a Pure Evoke 3. With both units I save radio progs to the SD card which are in MP2 format. I then transfer the files to Itunes on my computer via a card reader, and then convert the files to MP3 format using Itunes. I then update my Ipod with the radio progs and listen to the progs in my car or else in the house, or wherever.

This does sound long winded, but in fact is easy to do.

That's exactly what i'm doing now and it works perfectly. I just connect my Bug via usb to laptop, convert to MP3, then move the file onto SD card which i insert into my car head unit and enjoy. The sound quality is also great.
