Analogue to DAB Converters

Hi All

Analogue to DAB Converters - do such things exist?

I am really happy with my hi fi system which is analogue but would be interrested to know if there is a converter so I can listen to DAB.

Thanks for your help.

Nothing is available along those lines. I'm not sure what you think the advantage might be. DAB is inferior to Analogue FM in almost every way except that there is a greater choice of programmes. No improvement in quality. Last week there was a programme about the history of the BBC Maida Vale studios on Radio 4. Lots of important musical extracts. On DAB it went out at 80KBs and in Mono!

Re: Analogue to DAB Converters

Any DAB with a line-out or headphone socket (preferably line-out) you can hook up to your Hi-Fi. Don't expect much sound-quality wise like mike7 says but you'll pick up some extra stations and you might have more robust reception depending on how good your FM reception was and how good you're DAB reception will be .

Cheap DAB alarm clock might do the job quite nicely, got one hooked up to my parents Hi-Fi and it does the job.

p.s. Analogue-to-DAB is a confusing way to describe such a thing. But I knew what you meant.

Re: Analogue to DAB Converters

Currys used to sell one about £25 IIRC, complaints about its reception.

I only got the DAB so I could listen to AM late at night, the one place where it does the business without interference.

Coverage distance is rubbish, quality is inferior. Technology moves forward customer satisfaction moves backwards..

You could rig up a Pure Highway which will transmit the signal in FM or alternatively, Genus used to do good DAB adapters.

Richer Sounds do DAB/analogue radio tuners.

Tuners | DAB Tuners | Hifi Separates | Richer Sounds

Connect an aerial to the back then run either phono or a digital cable to your amp. Usually to an aux socket.
