| New radio aerial for motorhome
I am looking for advice from an expert on car radio aerials.
I have a motorhome built on a chassis cab and made mostly of aluminium.
The original antenna, which was situated on the cab roof, has been removed. All I have remaining is the co-axial cable hanging out from inside the door frame.
Is there point fitting a longer cable around the inside of the vehicle, or will the aluminium shell prevent reception?
Would the best reception come from a new antenna fitted on the outside at the top of the aluminium shell? If so, do I need to extend the existing piece of cable with some more co-axial cable, or would a single piece of copper wire do the job?
I am especially keen to get good AM reception.
Thank you.
