Pure DRX701ES - Station not available

Hello all,

I bought myself a pure radio as above, only came with a remote, nothing else.

I bought one of these off ebay:

As the Pure ones are around £12, and this 'seemed' to be better......

Originally when I got the radio, pressing Autotune resulted in it searching, but the number staying at 0.

With the aerial screwed in the tuning takes around twice the time, and the number on the top right goes up to 9, and then I can then browse stations via the dial, but when I click in the with the dial, I still get "Station not available"

I fear I may have been shafted with this one, and bought a lemon

Anyone care to share any tips, or should I just bin it and go and get a cambridge audio one?

Cheers

Dan

I came back to delete this, but weirdly there is no delete option that I could see

Just to save people replying, I found the manual online, and it now seems to be playing ball!

Cheers

Have you got both ends of the aerial verticallly orientated on the wall and the connector firmly on the coax socket?

Re: Pure DRX701ES - Station not available

Hi Nedmundo,

it's been kind of behaving, but I have the aerial slapped around a picture at the mo, I thikn I saw somewhere you need to fit it vertically, so I will be trying that at the weekend.

Don't really want to go through the hassle of adding another aerial in the loft, and drilling through the wall of the house if I can help it, so if this doesn't prove reliable I may have to look to a powered option - are they any better?

Cheers

Re: Pure DRX701ES - Station not available

If the tuner is picking up a weak signal it's possible for it to pick up the station ID but not be strong enough to actually decode the audio, in which case it will say "station not available" when selected, even though the station name is present in the line up of stations.

I have one of these tuners, and the best results are obtained by attaching one of the "arms" of the T of the supplied wire aerial to the ceiling or the wall, so that the whole aerial is hanging vertically.

If you have a bay window in your house try putting the tuner in the bay area and sticking the end of aerial to the ceiling or the window.

Re: Pure DRX701ES - Station not available

This is a good tuner, why don't you give it the opportunity to shine?
Buy an external aerial, drill the hole, and use the set to it's best.
The cheap bit of wire that comes in the box is simply to get the set working and sometimes, as you are finding it doesn't.
I fitted these sets a few years ago and they were fine once you gave them a good signal to work with, they even have discrete infra red codes!
