DAB Plus

I am looking for a DAB tuner - been looking in richer sounds and they have a harman kardon - nice tuner and sounds good. however it can't be updated to DAB plus - is this a problem?

are there any tuners available shipping with DAB+ or upgradable like the PURE alarm clocks?

Also is it worth waiting for a while until these issues are resolved and when are we likey to get DAB+???

The current DAB system sounds truely awful as the bit rates are far too low. I bought a DAB seperate for £100 and really regret buying it, it gets turned on once a year.

I'd wait until we know whether we are actually getting DAB+ in this country, and then see what comes to market.

There are quite a few DAB+ radios available in the UK, although some of them require a firmware upgrade:

They are mostly portables, bedside and handhelds, unfortunately. The choice of hi-fi DAB+ tuners is slim at the moment.

DAB isnt' too bad in my opinion. I have a personal Goodmans radio and sounds good. When it is a nice sunny day, and there is no work, I take both my radio and a pair of PC speakers into the garden.

Unfortunately, DAB+ will not be around for several years. (Well... not here in the UK thats for sure). If DAB+ came out now and DAB ended it would mean existing non upgraded receivers will no longer work and everyone would have to go out and buy a new DAB+ compatible radio. Yes.. go out and buy a DAB+ receiver but it will be years until we will get it.
