personal radio - DAB/FM/ or use ipod?

After small radio to use on out and about - want it easy to turn on/tune etc when doing other things.

Am I best going for Fm/ FM&DAB / DAB or ipod add on.

The robi ipod one (already have ipod) look pretty good - rechargeable FM and DAB.

Any thoughts?

Why limit your self to Dab?
It's better to get an Internet Radio such as the Squeezebox Boom but it will cost more. If you must get a dab then the Pure one is worth looking at. The Idab is also an option for an Ipod but it won't work with the Iphone.

Then its either this or the Idab, but the latter only does Dab. It should work fine.

would consider a radio that doesn't use the ipod but they seem twice the price - are they any better?

Re: personal radio - DAB/FM/ or use ipod?

They should have "better reception" I guess. I had tried a cheap one from LOGIC at first that had monophonic sound. The reception was clear most of the time but occasionally there was some annoying interference. It broke down after a year and then I got the Avanti from Pure that was much better and quite more expensive, more like a mini hifi. I ditched that too and went for an Internet Radio only. I think that Dab is broadcasted at 64/128 kbps so its no CD quality while Internet Radio can be of much better quality. If you are looking for something to use in the Kitchen/ bedroom a small radio should do but otherwise I suggest you look for a device to connect to your existing set up instead of a stand alone one.

And you can use an internet radio while out and about?

If you have an IPOD then a Robi might be good. Do a google search for it and click on "SHOPPING" at the top and see if there is any Robi's on offer.

If you want a seperate FM/DAB personal radio you are very limited. Argos sell them from £49 BUT if you purchased one before the summer they would've been £44. They have gone up in value since then. Some have built-in rechargeable batteries, some accept AAA batteries. I not too keen on built-in batteries really because after long use the life will shorten.

Just take note... DAB radios will gobble a lot of juice so I would go for high capacity rechargable batteries (1000 mAh would do). In my Goodmans DAB they last 12 hours.
