I need an aerial for a Pure DRX701 ES

Hi there,

I have just bought a Pure DRX701ES dab radio off a friend, but he has managed to lose the aerial..........

Looking on the back am I correct to think it is a bespoke fitment, and that if it is where I might be able to source a replacement aerial??

If it is not bespoke, again, any ideas.........?

Really keen to use it, gutted it is devoid of the aerial......... :-(

EDIT: Have found this (Right at the bottom of the page) is this my only bet??

Pure Service Centre DAB Aerials

An does it look right??

Would appreciate your help!

Many thanks

Dan

Yes, that is the aerial that comes with the 701ES. I used to own one. I imagine you could pick up something similar from Maplin. It is just a standard F-connector and a bit of wire.

Thanks Mr O,

total DAB newbie, so thatnks for that, had no idea about the type of connector involved!

Do you know if there is a type of cable I would want to use, is it just like cheap speaker wire or something?

Cheers

I imagine you can use a bit of speaker cable, but having never DIYed an aerial, I can't be sure. My tuners are all connected to a proper loft mounted aerial anyway.

With a decent signal though, the Pure will pick up all the stations with the supplied "twig" aerial.

A quarter wave piece of wire is one possibilty.
Here's some food for thought :

Re: I need an aerial for a Pure DRX701 ES

Thankyou guys,

I think I either want to buy a proper Pure aerial, or make an indoor one myself.

Don't really want to be drilling through walls unless the signal is abysmal.

I have seen the F type connectors here: f type : Maplin Electronics

But have no idea about what cable i should/would need to use combined with it?

Especially as I do not have an exisitng cable to look at anywhere in my house!

Can anyone recommend a home brew effort that would fulfill my requirements?

Cheers

Dan

Re: I need an aerial for a Pure DRX701 ES

It would be cheaper and less hassle to buy one of these: 6-Section Telescopic DAB Aerial : Telescopic Aerials : Maplin!!

Or buy the Pure replacement, although there is nothing special about it.

Re: I need an aerial for a Pure DRX701 ES

Fair point Mr O, well I found a chap on ebay selling some ones for £5.50 delivered, look heavier duty than the stock ones, and are twice as long I believe, so hopefully will do the trick,

Cheers
