Question FM Reception

I am using a Yamaha HTR-6140, which is the bottom end Yamaha reciever, but for the life of me I cannot get good FM reception. I live in a large city with 10 or so FM stations, and even those don't come in clear. I have tried those electronic booster antenna's, the standard single wire, I have even tried hooking it into the cable TV system, but none of it seems to make any difference. Has anyone else had experience with this ? Is there a setting on the reciever that I am missing or should look for ?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Re: FM Reception

Some receivers go through succesive tuning phases if you continue to scan after the initial scan.
The 1st pass looks only for strongest signals, then weaker, then weakest.
This should be mentioned in your manual or handbook if it applies.
Failing that, find a near neighbour who has a real VHF/FM external aerial and ask if they'll let you try your receiver out on their aerial; if that still fails, then you probably have a fault or some kind of operator error.

Thumbs up Re: FM Reception

Thanks, I will try running the scan a few times. It doesn't say anything in the owners manual, but the manual doesn't have much on the tuner part.

OK, good luck.
Incidentally, this forum is mainly UK (and Europe) based.
