Install advice please - Berkshire

Hi, long time lurker, 1st post.

I'm looking to improve my home cinema system. I have a rough idea of what I want but am happy to be directed on pretty much everything.

I have a 43" Pioneer plasma - On a stand at the moment but I want it wall mounted. Content comes from Sky+ (but will change to Freesat in the future) PS3 (Films, Games, music, photos) Xbox360, Wii. Audio is currently a Bose something or other 5.1 all under the TV.

I need an amp and speakers plus a universal remote and maybe the Humax freesat if possible.

Amp I was considering the Denon 1910 or Onkyo607 either of those with some Kef eggs. Budget for amp/speakers is about £1500. Speakers need to be wife friendly and little finger proof. Primary purpose is films and games but also like as good music system as possible (I'd consider more budget)

On top the Remote (Logitech?) and Humax.

Then the bit I don't really know about. I'd like the gear hidden away, cables hidden etc. Tricky to quote I know without seeing but I'd estimate the room is 15ft on a side with the power/sat signal in one corner making 1x15 foot horizontal run and 1x30 horizontal run to the rears with fronts are 15" and 0" and the screen 7.5" out from the corner.

I don't know cable costs, suitable cabinet (cooling problems?) costs or any special gear I might need screen mount, IR repeater etc

Any hints or tips or any recommended installer in Berkshire/Bracknell area.

Thanks
Bully

HI Bully, Things to consider are Equipment location (doesnt have to be under the TV), Speaker locations (to keep the room asthetics we often fit in wall or in ceiling speakers) check out Dolby Laboratories for correct speaker placement. You also need to match speakers to the AMP and vice versa so be a bit flexible. An RF based remote like Harmony 900/Philips TSU9200 is often a better bet than IR repeater system.

Thanks,

That Dolby site is interesting, specifically the listening positions between the FL and FR. I always thought that the install of stereo was on a equilateral triangle basis, eg the same distance between the pair and between each one and your head.

Not sure the Mrs would appreciate speakers 4ft out from the centre of the telly though! I guess a lot of home cinema in the lounge is about compromise as even if you positioned them perfectly for position 1 they are off for the other seats.

The rears are limited in where I can put them anyway.

I understand that most amps have set up wizards that listen to optomise the seating poitions, are they any good or is this a better manual process.

I'll look at the RF remotes.

Re: Install advice please - Berkshire

Depends on the Amp and the room some are very good, others so so.
