multiroom system help and idea's

Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong area or been asked many times before.

I am an electrician and am about to rewire my house, So may as well run Cat 5e /6/7 cables around too. I tend to get carried away with gadgets and buy things with hundreds of functions that I will never use so really need to know the basics of what I need.

I have been doing research and realise I need 2 plus runs of cat5e cable from central hub to each TV. Currently have 3 sources I want connected, Virgin V+ HD box, Bluray Player, Xbox 360, and maybe PC. There are 3 output TV's lounge, bedroom and kitchen/diner. I would also like audio speakers in my bathroom and kitchen. Is a matrix what I need? any good examples to look at? or is there alternatives. would also be nice to be able to plug my I pod in somewhere.

The main part I haven't got my head around yet is the remote controls, I have solid internal walls that even my wireless internet struggles to get through so a hard wired system will better, any brand names or info out there on components I need to do this?

I will also have a surround sound fitted in the lounge

I know a lot comes down to budget. although items can be purchased gradually if it's too expensive. probably maximum 2k for matrix or alternative, cables, accessories and remote system etc.

sorry about so many questions, I'm sure I'm not the only one pondering these.

thanks

dave

Think I'll move this to "Custom Installations" as there are professionals who may be able to help.....

HI Xerve, The bit where a lot of people (DIYers, other trades) fall down is not running the correct cables to the correct locations and getting the right furniture at each location.

I once saw a site where the client had designed the wiring, had it CAD drawn and installed by the sparks all perfect except they had completely the wrong size back boxes in every room!
