Sky HD in 4 rooms - Infinius Matrix 4 x 4 Switch

Hi
Would the following work?

I currently have Sky HD in the lounge and want to put this in 3 other rooms ideally so it can be viewed in HD (1080i) in all rooms.

I also have a blu-ray and media server which I would also like to be able to view in these 3 other rooms as well.

Therefore I was looking at this Infinius Matrix 4x4 switch. HDMI over Cat 5 Matrix Switch 4x4

If I run cat 6 cabling around the house, I believe I can see the same and different sources in each room. E.g. watch sky in the lounge whilst watching a bluray in the bedroom etc. Is this correct?

Equally reading the description means I can change the source viewed in another room from within the room from the supplied remote?

Also if I bought a generic remote for each room e.g. harmony etc then I could play, pause, control the sky, blu ray, media server etc from within the other rooms?

I was also recommended the Pro 2 2 splitter so that I could use the 4 Matrix with an AV receiver in the lounge. Any thoughts?

Anything else I need to think of?

Re: Sky HD in 4 rooms - Infinius Matrix 4 x 4 Switch

Be aware that this system does not convert the signals to data, but uses the cable simply to pass the signals.

A few other things :

1) You cannot use the same cable as part of your home computer network
2) You need a single (or in some cases 2) cable to each of your destinations, uncut, unsplit, with no joins, unhindered by switches routers etc. so this really affects how you wire your house up. (e.g. if you want to feed 4 sources from your living room you will need to run 4 cables (or even 8 - some systems require this I'm not sure about the one you've pointed to) directly to where your TVs will be.
3) Some HDMI/HDCP systems have real problems with handshaking and so you may have problems even with the 'perfect' setup
4) There have been rumours for some time about a sky server multiroom setup which may serve your purpose better (however if and when and at what cost are still uncertain !). If I read the runes correctly this could coexist on the same network with your media server.

I have been toying with similar setups in the past and have come to the conclusion that it is just too problematic at the minute and I will sit it out and wait either for the sky server or these : HDMI over IP Receiver - HDMI 1.3 over IP Network with IR Control - a revolution in HDMI distribution to come down in price.

In the meantime I'm distributing my sky via RF. While I have a bluray player I cant think of the last time I watched a disk !
