Freeview Recorder distribution

Hi all,

I have been given a challenge to try and connect a bedroom Freeview Recorder to all tvs with remote control function. I have added a simple schematic drawing to show the current layout.
Aerial.pdf shows current layout. Aerial 1.pdf shows a hopefull layout with remote eyes at each tv.

I will use the tv link plus at the recorder to gain the remote capabilities.

It is the loftbox unit that I am not sure about.

If there is a "one box" solution to this, even better.

All help is always appreciated.

thanks neuty

Re: Freeview Recorder distribution

Firstly does your recorder have a built in modulator?

If it does then you need to feed your aerial direct to your recorder, then into your TV link plus, then usually back to the loft and into one of these

T-Series-amplifiers

you don't need the functionality of the loftbox.
From the amp feed out to all your TV's on seperate coax's each with the 'eyes'

Re: Freeview Recorder distribution

Firstly, Thanks for moving the thread MarkTaylor.

Hi makitamark,

I am not sure if the PVR has a modulator. It is a Wharfedale from Apollo 2000.

The main tv aerial from the loft runs down to all tv's, as in the first attatchment. Are you saying that I can leave all as is. Fit the TV Link Plus for eye control. Fit a T series amp in the loft with the connections off to all other tv's.

So as in my second attatchment, can I replace the loftbox with a T series amp and still gain eye control plus keep strong TV signal to all tv's ?

Thanks for the help

Re: Freeview Recorder distribution

it's pretty fundamental that the pvr has a built in modulator - something that allows the other tv's that you are distributing to, to 'tune in' to.

the aerial feed will go directly from the aerial to the input of the pvr, then output thru your tv link plus to your distribution amp and from there to your other tv's.

is this your pvr?
Wharfedale DTR160 160GB PVR Twin Tuner - Free Setanta Sports

i can't find any specs on this piece to tell me if it does have a modulator.
if it doesn't you may as well forget this entire project.
you're going to need to look in the manual.

Re: Freeview Recorder distribution

Brilliant cheers makitamark,

It is the model you linked to. I will check the manual and do some searching, to see if it has a modulator.

cheers,

neuty

EDIT: Is there a simple way to check if i cannot locate any specs ?
