Standalone RF Tuner

Since in our country the terestrial channels still transmit over RF in our projection installations we have to use an external tuner to receive them. We have so far been using a Pioneer DVR (DVR-540) but we are not very happy with the units and it also seems they will soon be out of production and only the top of the line Pioneer unit will be available which is overkill for this application. The reasons we are not very happy with this unit are:

1) No discreets on and off
2) No discreets to change from DVD mode to RF mode. This matters because when power is cut off, the box will re-start in the DVD mode.

So we are looking for a standalone RF tuner that has following:
1) Component output
2) Discreet IR codes - RS232 is a bonus but not really needed

Re: Standalone RF Tuner

There are some basic ones but none i know of with Component, or RS232 have you tried Studio spec gear?
there are these CSC1205MT NTSC / PAL / SECAM Tuner for the World Traveller
and CMT1 Analogue Tuner for the Home or In-Car
The second one i have tried to use for a communal CCTV system in an apartment block with poor results...

Re: Standalone RF Tuner

Thanks.

I think I will look harder to find the discreets for power and dvd/rf selection - pioneer usually has discreets.

Otherwise maybe we will try the Panasonic DVD recorders. Any other suggestions?
