Multi wall plate

Hi all,

I'm trying to find somewhere where I can buy a wall plate that will terminate 1 x HDMI, 1 x component, 1 x ethernet & 1 x coax - this will be behind my tv terminating to my node zero in the basement.

The only place Ive found something is the site with 'europlates' but these seem to cost so much more than any number of separate plates.

Can anyone point me in the direction of somewhere I can either buy the bits to make my own, or buy pre made plates?

thanks

Will

Re: Multi wall plate

For HDMI you would be better running the cable without wall plates - it can be tricky to create enough space in the back box to plug in the cable to the back of the plate. You could also use a pre-made component cable and coax of the relevant length to allow direct connection at each end. If your walls are dry-lined or stud walls then you can feed the extra cable length back into the wall until needed. to make it look neat you can then pull these cables through a brush plate (see ACA Apex for such plates).

that would only require the Cat5e to be terminated which would be quite straight forward. I would also suggest you run 2 x Cat5e (or even 4) as this would allow some flexibility in future for running audio/video over Cat5e should it be required as well as leaving additional cables for ethernet network connections.

Re: Multi wall plate

May as well terminate the component though with either BNC or RCA for the amount of work involved - face plates with three of either should be ten a dozen.

Re: Multi wall plate

Why terminate any of them at all? As this is behind a TV and won't be seen, as neilball says, I would recommend just using neat brush plates to bring all the cables through the wall and then plug them into the back of the TV.

Any additional plug/socket combination is not good for any signals. And by bringing them through a brush plate, you may be able to get the TV nearer the wall because you won't have connectors sticking out from a wall plate.

I use these ones Aldous Systems (Europe) Ltd Single Gang Brush Faceplate

Re: Multi wall plate

ACA now make a great little brush plate that sits behind your chosen faceplate range so that everything matches.

Re: Multi wall plate

Brilliant stuff, thanks for the replies!

I was first a bit worried about not terminating the cables, however good point on how much these will stick out.

Brush plate it is!

Re: Multi wall plate

Hi there
I am an installer and use a make called RPP I think it is. They are media plates avaliable from CEF wholesalers and are finished in gloss black. It all depends on the distance you are running cables as to whether you need to run pre-made cables or use CAT5 or CAT6 and terminate them. I do have pics avaliable to demonstrate how I have done mine.
Hope this is of some help

just to thro some thing else in the mix (1st post bwt) u could go for something like this http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Wall_plate_C...P-803_back.jpg

you wouldn't need to do any terminating as your cables would just plug in to the back.. or u could make ur own as i am doing
