IR Control to work alongside video matrixes?

Hi there guys I dont normally like coming on here to ask questions of this nature as I can imagine different installers dont want to share solution information like this but I figured it was worth a go because I'm starting to pull my hair out.

Basically I want to put together a package for clients so they can share HD video throughout there home to various different TV's in there dwelling but for clients that dont have a big budget for AV gear and also dont want to foot the cost of a multiroom audio syste. Easy enough you say as you would just put the client with a HDMI/Component Video Matrix. The problem I am having is normally I would put a client with an OPUS system to cater for there audio, the good thing about this is the fact the OPUS system will do routed IR allowing the customer to install multiple sky boxes for instance. If the client sellects source 1 (sky box1) in zone 1 only the source 1 IR Emitter will flash down at the head end allowing for full control of that source regardless of what zone he is in. BUT If the client has no interest what so ever in audio and only wants video shared to each zone you have the problem of not being able to control your source equipment at the TV end. I have come across Matrixs that blast the IR but then thats no good if they want multiple sky boxes etc.

So after coming to the above conclusion I began researching IR distribution systems such as Xantech or Keene but I beleive these systems also work on "blast" IR. They do some form of routed IR but only in the sense that if zone 1 wants to control sky box 1 an emitter would need to be placed on the sky box, however if zone 2 also wanted control of this sky box a further emitter would need to be added and so on for each zone.

Basically I just want to be able to offer a client a matrix solution where he can have full access of all of his source equipment from any zone and be able to have more than one sky box at the head end. All this without the client having to foot the cost of an Opus multi room system or crestron control system.

Any help given is much appreciated as after talking to loadssss of different manufactuers and suppliers my brain is bamboozled.......what I would really like is a friendly installer who doesnt mind spending to odd 5 mins here and there having a chat on the phone sharing experainces and opinions but unfortunately in the north east of england installers alone are few and far between.....let alone finding a friendly one that doesnt mind sharing!!

We as a company offer a vast range of services so I now I would have knowledge I would be happy to pass on if other like minded installers were to do the same.

Cheers for your time guys
