Help needed with IR distribution issue????

Good evening all

I have a bit of a problem with an install im trying to finish.

Have a new V+ box which needs to be controlled from eitehr the kitchen or bedroom when necersary. All seemed very straight forward and planned on using the Keene IR commander using a run of FST to each point (max 15m away)

However whn i poweredx up the thing i get nothing from either remote reciever, I've belled out the cables and they are fine. The internal reciever on the commander works fine so its not the unit.

Anyway to spare my blushes i need to find an alternative pronto. Hopefully not to expensive as ive already had to swallow the cost of the Keene unit plus return trip. Grrrr.

I also have a coax feed going to each point but this would also need to carry an terrestrial RF feed.

Look forward to your ideas. Cheers

Re: Help needed with IR distribution issue????

Well if it's alternate products your looking for you could always look into the Xantech range, they offer a range of IR distribution units and various different IR emitters options. Coupled with some learning remote controls and away you go...allot cheaper than pronto but your still talking a couple hundred quid for the IR distribution system alone.

However did you say you took the Keene system back? Did you try ringing Keene support as there normally pretty helpful from experiance. Seems strange you had no responce from either point...sounds like a fault on the distribution box or power going to your emitters. Where are the IR emitters placed at the TV end and is there excessive amounts of sunlight, floursent strip lights or interferance from plasma tv's? Last of all at the V Box end are you sure your IR emitter was places over the IR sensor correctly?

Sorry if it's telling you how to suck eggs lol it's just it's sometimes the most simplist of things that cause these problems!
