NuVo Control Pad

Been looking at NuVo for an installation, but for the life of me can't find out the back box requirements for the control pad ... would have thought it would have been in the install manual ... maybe it is as I tend to skim

vex or hd?

Also, can you run sub-zones with the Grand Concerto?

Re: NuVo Control Pad

Grand Concerto is a US double width JBox (i.e. square shape). Make sure the screw thread holes are top and bottom. You should be supplied with these when you buy a Grand Concerto (or if you speak to them nicely they may send them in advance for first fixing).

Essentia is a UK single width back box.

From memory the control pads are probably no more than 30m deep, but you've got to allow for an RJ45 plug sticking out the back so make the back boxes deep.

Re: NuVo Control Pad

P.S. sub zones would have to be your own 'home made' ones.

Each Grand Concerto has 8 outputs and you can slave two Grand Concertos together for 16 zones max. Watch out because zones 7 & 8 are pre amp output only, so you have to spec external amplification for these two.

Re: NuVo Control Pad

As gce123 has said, only thing I will add is the UK keypads can be used on the GC system, but the GC keypads can not run on Essentia. For UK keypads use 35mm backboxes.

Dupe...

Cheers Guys, still can't decide between NuVo and Niles ICS. First one to come up with Sonos integration would swing it.

Re: NuVo Control Pad

FYI, NuVo have a really nice 2 way module for Prontos. A client of mine was delighted yesterday when he plugged his iPhone into the NuVo dock and all his tracks on the iPhone immdediately appeared on his Pronto.

Yes Sonos integration with anything at all would be great wouldn't it? Oh yes, and better margins and a SONOS inwall controller please.

Sonos integration? Why would you want 2 competing systems to integrate? its unlikely to happen and i cant see why you would want it too either...

Because the customer already had an older sonos system and I stupidly let slip that I use my iPod touch to control mine. Quickly connected to his system and he nearly dropped a brick as he has an iPhone and didn't know about the App for it.

Then again I showed him Apple TV for the living room and he nearly dropped a brick again, don't know why people don't like Apple TV. I've got XBMC on mine and I prefer it to my Popcorn.

NuVo Control Pad -

Is there a brushed stainless steel surround available for the Nuvo grand concerto control pads or can you use decora surrounds?

Yes, the importer does offer one. From memory it is not a proper Decora module, but i might be wrong.
