need to put my equipment higher up and out of reach of my 2yr old

Hi, i'm new to this site and i think i've come to the right place to ask for help. i've been looking for 4 or 5 shelves that will suit my equipment.

I bought a sony BDPS360 bluray dvd player and i've got a sky hd box. I can't put this equipment lower down on a unit because my 2 year will tear the equipment to bits.

I'm after a floating shelf or a unit that i can put higher up. I've been to ikea and b&q but those shelves are not deep enough and their not pretty (i'm after white gloss, preferably).

On top of that i've got the bose acoustimass 7 speaker system, i can put the sub behind the sofa but i was wondering if there are any corner floating shelves out there on which i can put the speakers on.

I need to get the downstairs done first and there is more equipment i need to fit in a similar way upstairs in the bedroom.

Or is there another way that i can install this equipment?

Cheers

Can someone please help????

Ah, the time old story of the "interested little fingers!"

In my "cabinet and TV on a stand" days, the solution was to buy a suitably-sized cabinet with glass doors. The IR remote signals passed through fine. Just needed to make sure that there was enough ventilation for the kit inside (drill with a big hole-cutting bit on the back panel works well).

Hi john2009 and welcome to the forums,

Something like This perhaps ? ....

Alphason ABR800-White - Alphason AMBRI Series - Alphason Stands - Stand and Deliver

It's not so much height that is critical as Security From a Small Person? You don't say where you have your TV Display but for the equipment ...

" The AMBRI ABR800-White boasts a practical enclosed design to protect valuable AV equipment. The door panel and adjustable shelving is manufactured from clear toughened safety glass.

The AMBRI ABR800-White has low profile roller glides which allow easy movement whilst being hidden from view. The door has a smooth opening mechanism which ensures it opens gradually and does not fall with an impact.

The brand-new ABR800-White is hand-finished in brilliant high-gloss polar-white. This stunning piece of furniture will complement modern and traditional decor and will be a definite talking point! Highly Recommended! . "

Given that modern research has prov-en that a two year old Human Puppy is about as clever as a Canine Puppy of similar age it may be that you will need to improvise some sort of lock /latch - a Bloody HUGE Padlock and hasp pehaps ? - that will prevent a cunning Paw from opening the units door but the principle of security looks sensible.

If the TV is vulnerable to small Paws then you could look at this ....

TV Screen Protector

As for the Sub ... put it under some sort of low table/ side table coffee table or whatever since this wont affect the sound distribution but will limit access .. unless the 2 year old person takes to pushing tennis balls beneath the table/ couch /chair or any other damn thing and then turns up with A SAD SAD expression of .. I am a Poor Puppy who has LOST her Tennis Ball, her Favorite Ball in all the World .. Oh Please DO help...see, see Under HERE !!

Best Wishes,

Arnold.

If you have Bose speakers then you should just need the Bose wall brackets to wall mount them.

BOSEĀ® Stands and Brackets
UB-20 I think are the right ones for AM-7 but check with your Bose Dealer

Re: need to put my equipment higher up and out of reach of my 2yr old

Thanks AV junky for your reply. av forums is great, everyone seems to be really helpful. I did find a way to put my dvd player and sky box higher up so my 2 year old won't be able to touch the equipment until he's about 10 atleast. I bought 2 shelves from G and G. I had my lcd high up on the wall already so i thought that the equipment be up there aswell.
I'm going to keep on using this site, very helpful. found exactly what i wanted.

Hi Arnold Akien, you're so right about 2 year olds being clever and they sure do learn very quickly. That's why i bought floating shelves and put the equipment high up. That still don't stop him writing on the walls though.
